More than a thousand metres above Chur is the famous holiday resort of Arosa. More than a thousand metres of altitude that can be covered in comfort by train. The journey already gets off to a spectacular start in Chur, for the train follows a route that takes it through the city centre. Having passed the city, the railway line winds its way up into the mountains across deep ravines and through dark tunnels. The trip across the 100 metrelong Langwieser Viaduct is a particularly exhilarating experience. This bridge was built in 1914 and at that time was regarded as one of the world’s greatest feats of construction using reinforced concrete.
