Group fitness offers a wide selection of health, fitness and endurance classes, such as body toning, pilates or forest yoga.   • The course registration is free, please finish the process with CHF 0.-
  • You'll receive an email with the confirmation of the course (an an invoice with 0.- -> please ignore)

  • Receive ticket with QR code by e-mail
  • Exchange the QR code for a chip wristband at the ticket machine on site

The ice sports stadium in the Obere Au of Chur is used as an indoor ice rink for ice hockey, figure skating and public ice skating.

Description

Less traffic, more movement - new traffic routing in the Obere Au area

The Obere Au ice sports stadium is home to local ice hockey club EHC Chur and the figure skating club Eisclub Chur (ECC) also holds practice and events here. It holds 3000 spectators and a restaurant that is open during matches.

The indoor ice stadium has a rink reservation system for patch ice. More information.

Obere Au ice sports stadium as an event venue
With space for 3,000 spectators, the Hallenstadion Obere Au is one of the largest event venues in Chur. From September to March it is equipped with an ice rink, from April to August the concrete floor is used for a variety of purposes.

Description

Less traffic, more movement - new traffic routing in the Obere Au area

Ice and grass sports enthusiasts enjoy a modern infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment. The ice rink has an ice field that can be converted from the European ice field size (60m x 30m) to the North American ice field size (60m x 26m). The sports infrastructure also includes 25 changing rooms for ice and field sports, an athletics room (226m2), a gymnastics room (65m2), a sprint track (50m) and a first-aid room. The event facilities include the grandstand (276 seats) and two meeting rooms (50m2 each). Changing rooms for users of the jogging track and the skate park as well as a public toilet and shower facility are accessible from the outside. With this infrastructure, the ice sports training stadium is a state-of-the-art addition to the old ice sports stadium. The new ice sports training stadion is open all year for public ice skating, patch ice and training sessions.

Ice skate rental available at Quader outdoor ice rink only. Please bring your own ice skates when you visit the Obere Au ice sports training stadium.

The large Obere Au outdoor pool in Chur is located by the Rhine at the foot of the Calanda mountain. It is characterised by the extensive sunbathing lawn with shady trees and views of the mountains around Chur. The 50m-pool with 8 lanes is suitable for swimming lengths, while the learning pool with its wide slide and a tube slide offers plenty of fun for children and the spacious children's paddling pool will lure even the youngest to the water. Sports enthusiasts can let off some steam during table tennis, at the group fitness area or at the pirate themed playground. If you're hungry, you can grill your own food in the barbecue area, get a snack from the Obere Au Take Away or Khurer Gnusswaga (food truck) or eat at the Obere Au sports restaurant.

Play afternoons from 11. June at the outdoor pool
The play afternoons on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11. June until 9. August will be held at the Obere Au outdoor pool (instead of the indoor pool). They will not take place in case of bad weather. Further information: Play afternoons

Free transition to the indoor pool
The free transfer between the Obere Au indoor and outdoor pools via the terrace of the sports restaurant, which was introduced last year, was very popular with customers. That's why this will be offered again this summer.

In 2021 Swiss Aquatics has included the swimming pool of the Obere Au outdoor pool in the official list of Olympic pools, category A. Category A are pools for the highest demands that are suitable for holding major competitions. Diploma Olympic pool, cat. A

Whether you want to swim lengths in the 25m-pool, jump from the diving tower (1, 3, or 5 meters), or try out your first strokes in the learning or paddling pools - there's something for everyone to enjoy at the Obere Au indoor pool, even more so with the 85m-long slide. In the outside area of the indoor pool there is also the Aquamarine warm water wellness pool with various massage jets and whirlpool systems. Use of the Aquamarine is included in the indoor pool admission. Then you can refuel in the Obere Au sports restaurant, build up your strength in the gym, or relax in a sauna or infrared cabin. Take a barefooted walk first on the grainy gravel of the footpath, then on the warm, rough wood of the footbridge and finally feeling the cool, refreshing water of the Mühlbach stream under your feet - the new, small Kneipp facility invigorates mind and body! It can be found on the walkway along the Obertor Mühlbach stream between the skate park and the boccia facility on the Obere Au in Chur.

Tips for use

  • The prerequisite for cold water application is a warm body. Never tread water with cold feet. Warm up beforehand with running or gymnastics.
  • When treading water, lift the feet out of the water with each step ("stork walk"). Only stay in the water until the legs feel a strong cold stimulus (max. 1 minute). Then wipe off the water and warm up again.
