Concrete is an indispensable part of the modern construction world – but its high resource consumption and CO₂ emissions present us with major challenges. In her lecture, Simone Stürwald will shed light on current developments and solutions for a more sustainable use of concrete and address the effects on the environment and landscape.

Simone Stürwald is a lecturer at the OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in the field of civil engineering with a focus on sustainable construction and resource-saving materials. It deals intensively with the ecological challenges of construction, especially in connection with concrete as one of the most widely used, but also most resource-intensive building materials worldwide. In her work, she combines research, teaching and practice with the aim of developing innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry.

Hazelboden (2004-2025), aquatint etchings and drypoint copperplate printing. The series focuses on landscape changes on the site used by Holcim AG in Untervaz between 2004 and 2025. The copper plates developed on site preserve snapshots of the landscape over a longer period of time. They thus represent the successive mining of rock by visual means. The series is part of a larger discussion by Dierauer that revolves around the ecological effects of human resource use.

Joachim Dierauer (1971, Chur), lives and works in Chur. Dierauer studied fine art in Braunschweig and dedicated his work to the art of printing. Since then, he has been actively exhibiting at home and abroad and has been awarded several prizes and scholarships. From 2005 to 2011, he was part of the open collective In Situ in Chur, which critically contributed to social debates with his work. Dierauer is currently working as technical manager of the Haldenstein printing workshop.

The Child and Youth Work (JuAr) cordially invites the people of Chur to the fourth summer festival in the Stadtbaumgarten - on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, there will be celebrations. At this year's summer festival, visitors can expect a colourful programme of live music, dance, creative hands-on activities and culinary delights. A day that shows how diverse and lively child and youth work is in Chur.

«REFINE – youth reformed!» This is the name of the new youth festival, which will take place every 2 years in a different region of German-speaking Switzerland from 2025. It is a joint initiative of the Reformed Regional Churches. At REFINE, young people from the age of 13 are invited to deal with the world, themselves and their faith and to get involved in their concerns. As a platform, the major event enables 3000 young people to meet, have fun, develop and discuss ideas together, discover new approaches to their spirituality and deepen their faith.

The first youth festival is organised by the Zurich Regional Church in cooperation with the Cantonal Church of Schaffhausen. It will take place from 31.10.- 02.11.2025 in Zurich under the motto "All things are possible" - derived from Philippians 4.13: "For all things are possible to me through Him who fills me with power."

If you would like to be there with your youth group, don't forget to include the visit in your budget planning for 2025.

In a special concert evening, two outstanding works of sacred vocal music will meet: Johann Sebastian Bach's Motet Jesu, meine Freude impresses with its artful structure, the close connection between chorale and biblical text as well as its rich expressive content. Heinrich Schütz's Musical Exequies, written in the midst of the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, combine personal farewell culture with liturgical form and show a deep examination of death and consolation. Both compositions reflect in their own way the baroque idea of music as a means of edification and inner movement. A concert that offers space for concentration, resonance and musical discoveries.
